What?!Sean Penn Reveals Hes Never Used a Laptop and Can Only Use His Smartphone

He may be an Oscar winner, and he may have been behind the camera for the well received film Into the Wild, but Sean Penn recently admitted that he doesn’t know how to use a laptop … because he’s never used one.

On Thursday, March 21, the 58-year-old appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and found himself talking about his process for writing books and screenplays. And let’s just say that it isn’t the typical routine a writer has. The actor revealed to the TV host, 51, that he comes up with all his ideas at night, and then puts them into his notes app. “It’s one of the few things I know how to do on my phone,” he said.

But the process isn’t done there, as the Milk star then revealed that he has his assistant put everything onto a laptop for him. “I’ve never touched one,” Sean explained, which, of course, took Jimmy by surprise. “So you never Googled anything or bought anything on Amazon?” the TV personality asked. “On my phone, I can,” Sean explained. But how does the filmmaker get his words onto the laptop?

“I stand up … with a vodka tonic and a cigarette, and dictate,” he admitted. Well, that’s one way to do it. While Sean still appears in films and shows here and there, it is clear that he does not do it as often. Last year, he revealed that he doesn’t really have much love for acting anymore.

“It can be great when you’re working with good actors or good directors or good writing as an exercise, but do I have a belief that it has a lasting value?” he once told Tracy Smith on CBS Sunday Morning. “Maybe, I could make the argument intellectually. But I don’t have a visceral — I’m not in love with that anymore.”

Now that he’s tackled acting, perhaps Sean can tackle a laptop in the near future.
